Interstate 70 resurfacing - This project includes resurfacing with related work on portions of I-70 in Muskingum County between U.S. 22/40 (Norwich) and SR 83 (New Concord). Estimated project completion is October 2022.

  • New impacts: Motorists can expect overnight lane closures on I-70 for pavement repairs.

Interstate 70 resurfacing - This project includes resurfacing with related work on portions of I-70 in Licking and Muskingum Counties from CR 330 (Shelly Rd.) in Licking County to the Licking/Muskingum County line and Licking/Muskingum County line to just east of CR 30 in Muskingum County. Estimated project completion is October 2022.

  • New impacts: Motorists can expect single lane closures on Midland Oil and Mt. Hope Roads during the weeks of 5/9 & 5/16 for completion of the bridge repairs in progress.

Interstate 70 reconstruction in downtown Zanesville - This project will reconstruct I-70 though the city of Zanesville, resurface I-70 between U.S. 40 and State Route 93. Full reconstruction will begin west of the Licking Road overpass, including the Maple Avenue ramps and Maple Avenue at the end of the ramps, and end east of the abandoned railroad overpass. The project also impacts 16 bridges in the area.

  • New impacts
    • The State Street bridge and the I-70 WB off-ramp to State Street are scheduled to close on Tuesday, May 31, for 95-120 days for reconstruction of the bridge. The bridge will also be closed to pedestrian traffic.
    • 6th Street is closed for reconstruction work. It is estimated to re-open Summer 2022.
    • 7th Street is closed for reconstruction for an estimated 2-3 months.
    • Motorists can expect continued daytime lane closures on Underwood Street for bridge work.
    • Nightly lane closures on I-70 continue. Work hours are 9:00pm to 6:00am.
    • I-70 WB is currently in its phase one construction configuration. The 6th Street on-ramp to I-70 WB is also closed and will remain closed during phases 1, 2, and 3 construction, which is approximately 5.5 years (through Summer 2027). Motorists wanting to access I-70 WB should use the on-ramp at State Street.
    • The Maple Ave flyover ramp to I-70 EB is closed and I-70 EB is in its phase one traffic configuration. The Maple Ave ramp to I-70 EB will be closed for all of phase 1 and 2 construction, which will last approximately 4 years (through Fall 2025). The posted detour for the Maple Ave flyover is Adair Ave (SR 60) to Underwood Street to I-70 EB.
      • The reason for the 5.5-year ramp closure of 6th Street on ramp to I-70 WB and the 4-year closure of the Maple Ave ramp to I-70 EB is due to the extensive work being done on the bridge over the Muskingum River. If you look at the graphic here, it shows the traffic switches for each phase of construction. During phase one, two lanes of I-70 will be maintained in each direction on the outer portion of I-70. It would be unsafe to keep the 6th street ramp and the Maple Ave ramp open due to lack of merge space for traffic attempting to access I-70.
    • All work is weather dependent and dates are subject to change. For more project details, click here.

State Route 60 full depth replacement - This project will reconstruct SR 60 between Duncan Falls and the Muskingum/Morgan County line. Estimated project completion is August 2023.

  • New impacts: SR 60 is currently restricted to one lane in multiple sections between Duncan Falls and the Morgan County line. There is three separate zones set up with signalized lane closures. SR 60 will close for three weeks in June and again in July. The two closures will be located between the Morgan County line and SR 376. Specific closure dates will be shared at a later date.

SR 16 reconstruction between the Muskingum County line and Spitler Drive - This project will replace the pavement on SR 16 from the Muskingum County line to Spitler Drive intersection. Estimated project completion is Fall 2024.

  • New impacts: Beginning Thursday, May 19, work is expected to begin on the SR 16 reconstruction project. At that time, work will begin on the two lane section of SR 16 between the southside of SR 83 and AK Steel (work will be completed in two mile increments). Maintenance of traffic includes one-way traffic for SR 16 WB traffic and a closure of SR 16 EB. The posted detour for SR 16 EB will be SR 60 NB to SR 541 to SR 16. There will be a complete closure of SR 16 EB at SR 60 and traffic will be forced to use the off-ramp at SR 60. Local traffic needing to access SR 16 between SR 60 and the closure  will be able to access SR 16 EB by using the on-ramp from SR 60. All other traffic must detour.
  • Once work is completed in the two-lane section between SR 83 and Adams Mills, work will continue on the 2-lane section between SR 83 and the 4 lane section of SR 16. The work in the 2-lane section will take all of 2022 and a portion of 2023. Work will then begin on the 4-lane section of SR 16. At that time, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. SR 16 will be open to traffic over the winter.
