Statewide Bike and Pedestrian Plan

A Message from Jack Marchbanks, Ph.D., ODOT Director
Valued Ohioans:
ODOT is pleased to publish Walk.Bike.Ohio, Ohio’s first statewide bicycle and pedestrian plan. Over the past two years, ODOT has worked to document existing conditions and develop recommendations to make walking and biking in Ohio a safe, convenient and accessible transportation option for everyone.
Although publication of Walk.Bike.Ohio is a major milestone for Ohio, it is just the beginning of the work necessary to achieve our vision. Ohioans across the state rely on walking and biking to get to work, school, and medical appointments. Therefore, implementation of the plan recommendations is essential to improving walking and biking in Ohio.
I want to thank the many transportation planning partners listed on the Acknowledgements page who assisted in the development of Walk.Bike.Ohio. The guidance provided by our partners was instrumental in developing the plan recommendations. I also want to thank the many citizens who engaged in the planning process and shared their thoughts and ideas.
In addition to this plan, many additional resources were developed to assist both ODOT and our planning partners. Those resources are referenced throughout this document and also linked on our website, transportation.ohio.gov/walkbike.
I look forward to continued collaboration with our planning partners over the coming years to improve Ohio's transportation system and benefit all Ohioans.
