As part of Segment IVA of the Eastern Corridor program, the SR 32/Bach Buxton interchange project will create a new, full-service diamond interchange along SR 32, immediately east of the existing Elick Lane intersection in the Eastgate area of Clermont County, by realigning and extending Bach Buxton Road over SR 32 and connecting with Old SR 74 on the north side.
Other improvements include building a third, westbound lane on SR 32, between the new interchange and Glen Este-Withamsville Road, and realigning Bach Buxton Road between Marian Drive and Clepper Lane to the south of SR 32. As a result of the project, at-grade intersections and three traffic signals within the project zone will be eliminated.
Construction began in February 2022, and the project is scheduled to be complete in late fall 2024.
The following changes are being implemented during the first phase of construction:
- Closure of Newberry Drive at SR 32 (along the eastbound side, at the former Thornton’s gas station) – March 2022
- Closure of Fayard Drive intersection at SR 32 East – March 2022
- Closure of the south leg of Old SR 74 at SR 32 (eastbound side) – April 2022
These are permanent closures, and traffic will be redirected via Elick Lane, Bach Buxton Road and Shayler Road.
Other changes to be implement later in the project include:
- Closure of the Elick Lane intersection & creation of a cul-de-sac.
- Closure of the north leg of the Old S.R. 74 intersection & creation of a cul-de-sac.
- Closure of Fayard Drive intersection along S.R. 32 West & creation of a cul-de-sac.
The schedule to close these intersections within the corridor has yet to be determined.
