About the project
The project consists of resurfacing approximately 5.5 miles of I-71 between state Route 126 and state Route 562 in eastern Hamilton County. Work will include replacing the bridge deck of the Stewart Road (overpass) bridge, as well as rehabilitating multiple structures within the work area from the railroad bridge north of SR 562/Norwood Lateral to SR 126/Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. In addition, the project includes widening to three continuous through lanes between the Norwood Lateral interchange and Red Bank Expressway, removing the northbound Ridge Road exit and adding an exit to Kennedy Avenue from northbound I-71.
Current traffic impacts:
- Effective April 26, 2021, the Kennedy Avenue ramp to I-71 North will be closed for up to 90 days for paving work. The closure will be in effect through mid-July, and motorists will be detoured via Duck Creek Road and Red Bank Expressway to I-71 North.
- Effective April 26, 2021, the ramp from I-71 North to Ridge Avenue, Exit 8C, will be closed permanently. This permanent closure is part of planned upgrades to the Ridge/Kennedy Avenue interchange. Motorists will be routed by way of Exit 8A.
- Motorists may encounter single-lane closures in either direction at various locations or segments through the work zone throughout the duration of the project.
