Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail

As if Lake Erie were not scenic enough, the 293-mile Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Scenic Byway offers travelers beaches, state parks, preserves, lighthouses, vacation islands, quaint villages and big cities. This byway offers shopping, fishing, birding, biking, boating, camping, touring and exploring, truly a scenic byway with something for everyone. Historians will enjoy the rich maritime history tours while recreation boaters never run out of things to do. A trip to Lake Erie Coastal Ohio can last all day or all week.

On the eastern side, the byway begins at Conneaut, Ohio and closely follows the Erie shoreline to Toledo and the Michigan border. Byway travelers enjoy passing through several small lakeshore villages. And for those who enjoy a more urban experience, Cleveland is home to the Rock and Roll Hall Fame as well as professional football, basketball and baseball teams. And both Cleveland and Toledo are home to a fine selection of museums and zoos. The byway passes right by Cedar Point, America's premier coaster park, and ferry rides to Lake Erie's islands.

Part of the byway, on the western side, loops through Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca counties offering visitors views along the Maumee State Scenic River.
