Conduit Management Recommendations

Published: April 21, 2021

Conduits having a General Appraisal rating value of 4 or less are placed the on an annual inspection frequency and are recommended for remedial action by the District. The General Appraisal rating represents the lowest of the controlling bold boxes found on the CR86 Inspection sheet.

Other inspection ratings that may not control the General Appraisal rating should be considered when evaluating the need for maintenance. Maintenance activities may include joint sealing, concrete patching, mortar repair, invert paving, ditch cleaning, channel cleaning, field applications of protective coatings, or other work to improve drainage. These preventive activities are performed to address light deterioration prior to more serious deterioration that may cause structural distress in the conduit or to address localized flooding or drainage issues caused by lack of maintenance.

Maintenance activities are recommended for any conduit with an inspection rating ≤ to those listed in Table 1, regardless of the General Appraisal.
