Planning

Transportation planning includes data collection, permit approvals, funding applications, public information meetings and assistance to local government staff where all transportation begins. ODOT provides the right tools and subject matter experts as well as the bridge to Federal Highway Administration staff to ensure Ohio's transportation system meets the needs of the traveling public.

Planning staff coordinate and manage several studies and activities that aid the state in decision-making efforts when it comes to what's best for Ohio's future. Those studies include: Access2045, Walk.Bike.Ohio, Transportation Asset Management, Strategic Highway Safety Plan, and more.
