Hamilton County (Thursday, July 22, 2021) – A bridge repair project is set to begin on U.S. Route 22 (Gilbert Avenue) in Cincinnati, and restrictions will go into effect early next month.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the bridges over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street by repairing the substructure, painting steel girders and replacing expansion joints.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, August 2, and during the first phase of the project, the right lane of westbound Gilbert Avenue will be closed between Court and Broadway streets. This traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately 30 days before traffic is switched and the left lane is closed.
In addition to the single-lane closure, the sidewalk along the bridge will be closed, and pedestrians will be detoured by way of Court, Reedy and Broadway Streets. Restrictions will also be in place in the parking area beneath the bridge to within five feet of the work area.
The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.27 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2022.
