USE OF ODOT VEHICLES AND MACHINERY FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is committed to building and maintaining positive relationships with our local community and governmental partners, and the public. It is the policy of ODOT that the District Deputy Directors, in consultation with the Director’s Office, may approve the use of ODOT Vehicles and Machinery for the following purposes:

1.    A community parade;
2.    “Paint the Plow” or “Touch the Plow” event; or a
3.    County Fair.

Staff that participate in these events must be paid pursuant to the negotiated terms in the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA) contract or the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Pay Rate Schedules.

DAS Pay Rate Schedules
DAS VF-01 – “Employees use of Employer provided motor vehicles”

SCOPE:

This policy is applicable to all Districts of the Ohio Department of Transportation.

DEFINITIONS:

None.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Wages for staff driving the ODOT vehicles or machinery and the cost of fuel for the vehicles and equipment.

TRAINING:

None.

FISCAL ANALYSIS:

Fiscal impact will be limited to the wages paid to employees to drive and fuel needed for the vehicles and machinery.
