Week of May 10, 2021
LORAIN COUNTY (Thursday, May 6, 2021) – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Lorain County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.
State Route 2 resurfacing project – State Route 2, from just east of Baumhart Road to just east of SR 58, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes at all times. Estimated completion: September 2021
U.S. Route 20 major widening - U.S. 20, between Stoney Ridge Road and Lear Nagle Road, will have one lane of traffic maintained in each direction as needed. Crews will begin to complete the remaining concrete sidewalks, curbs, and curb ramp work along the project limits. Estimated completion: July 2021
U.S. Route 20 bridge repairs – U.S. 20 at the structures over Grafton Road and SR 57 will have lane closures for bridge repairs. Traffic will be maintained eastbound and westbound with portable concrete barriers or construction barrels. The lane closures may occur concurrently or alternately depending on project work. Estimated completion: August 2021
State Route 58 railroad repairs – State Route 58, between SR 162 (New London-Lafayette Road) and Stewart Road, will close Monday, May 10 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 58 to U.S. 224, west on U.S. 224 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Saturday, May 15, 2021
State Route 58 resurfacing – NEW IMPACTS – State Route 58 in the city of Lorain, from Cooper Foster Park Road to U.S. 6, will have one lane of traffic maintained in each direction from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a resurfacing project. Motorists can expect scheduled short, daily lanes closures at each intersection to facilitate the reconstruction of sidewalks and curb ramps. Estimated completion: September 2021
I-90 bridge reconstruction – I-90 eastbound and westbound, at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue) will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers and two 11’ lanes of traffic will be maintained eastbound and westbound. Estimated completion: July 2022
State Route 301 bridge repairs – State Route 301 (Lagrange Road) bridge over U.S. 20 will have single lane closures for bridge repairs. Traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: August 2021
State Route 301 culvert replacement – NEW IMPACTS – State Route 301, between Slife Road and Diagonal Road, will close Monday, May 17 for a culvert replacement. The detour for southbound motorists is SR 301 to U.S. 20, west on U.S. 20 to SR 58, south on SR 58 to SR 303, east on SR 303 to SR 301, and reverse for northbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, May 2, 2021
I-480 resurfacing – I-480 eastbound and westbound, between the Ohio Turnpike (I-80) and Lorain Road, will have shoulder closures and daily lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will be performing bridge maintenance and guardrail repairs.
- DUE TO RECENT WEATHER, THE CONTRACTOR HAS CHANGED THE SCHEDULE FOR THE FOLLOWING WORK: The entrance ramp from Lorain Road to I-480 westbound will close Wednesday, May 12 for concrete pavement repairs. The detour will be for motorists to continue on Lorain Road/SR 10 eastbound to Stearns Road southbound to I-480 westbound. Estimated completion: Saturday, May 22, 2021
- The exit ramp from I-480 westbound to Lorain Road will close Monday, May 17 for concrete pavement repairs. The detour will be for motorist to take I-480 westbound to the exit at Stearns Road northbound to Lorain Road/SR 10 westbound to I-480 westbound. Estimated completion: Wednesday, May 26, 2021
