Wayne County: Construction update

Week of July 13, 2020

WAYNE COUNTY (Thursday, July 9, 2020) – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Wayne County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

State Route 3 resurfacing project - State Route 3, from the village of Loudonville to the city of Wooster, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2020

State Route 83 resurfacing project - State Route 83, from the Medina County line to the northern corporation limits of the city of Wooster, will have periodic road closures for a resurfacing project.


  • State Route 83, between Route 604 and the Medina County line, will close Monday, July 13 to Sunday, August 2 for two lane resurfacing.
    • The detour route for northbound motorists will be state route 83 to route 604, east on Route 604 to Route 3, north on Route 3 to I-76, west on I-76 to I-71, southwest on I-71 to Route 83, and reverse for southbound motorists.


  • Crews are finishing the surface course along the project limits.
  • Continue work at intersections and then begin berming and grading operations.

Estimated completion for entire project: October 2020

State Route 83 bridge replacement – State Route 83, between Harrison Road and Force Road, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists will be state Route 83 to U.S. 250, southeast on U.S. 250 to Route 241, south west on Route 241 to Route 62, west on Route 62 to Route 83 and reverse for northbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, August 14, 2020

U.S. Route 250 bridge replacement – U.S. 250 over Little Apple Creek, between Villard Street and Apple Ridge Drive, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a bridge replacement project. Traffic will be maintained by signalized lane closures. Estimated completion: October 2020
