ODOT’s Jobs & Commerce has supported a developing tourism industry in Galion by providing grant funding for transportation access improvements to the Freese Complex. Galion has chosen to construct a 60,000 square foot year-round sports complex to accommodate local and regional activities, which include medical, educational and business events. To assist with this project, ODOT’s Jobs & Commerce provided $75,000 to help fund the extension of Niss Drive and a reconstruction of the existing roadway. The City of Galion predicts that this project will serve the medical center and service industry. Galion estimates that the facility will bring in $3 million a year.  Jobs and Commerce Economic Development Grant will support the creation of 40 new jobs.

ODOT’s Jobs & Commerce is focused on providing transportation infrastructure investments that support job creation, job retention and economic development opportunities. The Office of Jobs & Commerce engages businesses and local communities to understand their transportation infrastructure needs while collaborating with local economic development professionals such as Jobs Ohio and the Ohio Department of Development to provide solutions.
