This course provides a comprehensive view of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s process for complying with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). It will build upon all of ODOT’s environmental courses and provides participants with an understanding of the various aspects of planning and project development and how they are used to guide them in making NEPA process decisions for ODOT’s program.
Day 1 – 8:30am to 4:30pm
Day 2 – 8:30am to 4:00pm
Topics Include: NEPA/CEQ – PDP Process – Public Involvement & Decision Making – Purpose & Need – Performance Based Project Development - Critical Path Management & Environmental Strategy - Special Studies - Developing & Evaluating Alternatives - Developing a NEPA Strategy - Environmental Documentation – Categorical Exclusions - Environmental Assessments/Environmental Impact Statements - Managing Change/Re-evaluations – Environmental Commitments
Note: successful completion of an online test (within two weeks after the course) is required for certificate. Short breaks will be provided as needed. Total contact hours of instruction = 13.5 (with break times subtracted).
