Description This course covers safety practices, pre-trip inspection and maintenance of the truck, plow, and spreader.  Additionally, there is discussion of vehicle operation, plowing and salting techniques, and identification of different snow conditions.  This course is all classroom-based – there are no driving exercises.  If available at the training site, snow plowing equipment may be viewed as part of the pre-trip inspection discussion.

Who Should Attend?This course is applicable to local agency employees involved in seasonal snow plowing.

Instructor – Ron Asman, former ODOT Equipment Training Officer (retired).

Registration Information This course offering through LTAP is intended primarily for local agency officials and employees (county, city, village and township).  Registrations are processed in the order they are submitted online, while seats are still available.  The registration fee is $48 per person for government employees and $120 for non-government employees.  Lunch is “on your own”.  Any registrant requiring a reasonable accommodation during training (i.e., mobility or access) should contact Ohio LTAP prior to the course date so the appropriate arrangements can be made.  Space is limited due to social distancing requirements.  Face mask/covering is required.  Temperature will be taken at the door.  If you are sick or not feeling well, or if you have any reason to believe you have been exposed to the coronavirus: please DO NOT show up at the training site, and DO NOT attend the course.  If you need to cancel your registration, please contact the LTAP office.
