I-77 Culvert Rehabilitation Project in Tuscarawas County
ODOT Seeks Comments on the Rehabilitation of Three Culverts in Oxford and Salem Townships, Tuscarawas County, Ohio
ODOT District 11 proposes a project to repair three existing culverts under Interstate Route (IR)77 in Oxford and Salem Townships, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, at the following locations:
1. TUS-IR77-00.12- The existing 60" diameter x 530' long corrugated metal pipe culvert (CFN 1855896) is located approximately 0.12 miles north of the Guernsey County Line. This culvert will be left in place with spray applied structural liner. The outlet will need 14 feet of the existing pipe replaced and a new headwall placement. Rock channel protection (RCP) will be placed at the outlet.
2. TUS-IR77-05.98- The existing 72” diameter x 378’ long paved corrugated metal pipe culvert (CFN 1823935) is located approximately 0.65 miles north of the Newcomerstown Interchange. This culvert will be left in place with spray applied structural liner. Rock channel protection (RCP) will be placed at the outlet.
3. TUS-IR77-07.13- The existing 72” diameter x 496’ long corrugated metal pipe culvert (CFN 1823934), has a concrete bottom with an 18” vitrified half tile pipe in the invert and is located approximately 0.47 miles south of the CR 23 (Wolf Road) overpass. This culvert will be left in place with spray applied structural liner. Rock channel protection (RCP) will be placed at the outlet.
Impacts to multiple streams, wetlands and ditches are expected. Suitable wooded habitat will be impacted for protected bat species. This project is not expected to impact any cultural (historic) resources.
New right-of-way will be required to construct the project (at the 07.13 location only). Traffic will be maintained the duration of construction which is anticipated for the Spring of 2023.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of these proposed projects. Environmental impacts include those associated with historical archeological or architectural resources, ecological resources, hazardous materials, and/or any general concerns regarding the project.
