About the project

The project will install a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 20 and state Route 601, east of Norwalk. The purpose of the project is to improve safety for motorists at the intersection of U.S. 20 and state Route 601. This intersection has experienced a high frequency of crashes for many years and has appeared on ODOT's Highway Safety Program during the last five years. A roundabout will reduce the number of conflict points at the intersection and reduce vehicle delays.

Construction is expected to begin in 2021 and continue through 2022.

All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. Route 20 & State Route 601 roundabout – The intersection of U.S. 20 and State Route 601 is closed for an intersection improvement project that will convert the current intersection into a single-lane roundabout.

  • The detour route for northbound motorists on SR 601 will be SR 601 north to U.S. 250, northwest on U.S. 250 to SR 113, and east on SR 113 back to SR 601.
  • The detour route for southbound motorists on SR 601 will be SR 601 south to SR 61, south on SR 61 to U.S. 250, and southeast on U.S. 250 back to SR 601.
