About the project

This $58 million project will replace nearly six miles of pavement along state Route 8 between Graham Road and state Route 303, through the cities of Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, and Hudson, and the village of Boston Heights.

The project also includes bridge repairs consisting of two bridge deck replacements. During the four year project, a minimum of two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction of state Route 8, while various short ramp closures will occur at the Graham Road, Seasons Road, Steels Corners Road, and state Route 303 interchanges.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late July 2022.

Timeline

Fall 2018

Shoulder reconstruction and pavement repairs. Three lanes of traffic maintained in each direction during peak travel times.

Spring/Summer/Fall 2019

Median wall, inside shoulders and inside driving lane reconstructed. Two lanes of traffic maintained in each direction.

Spring/Summer/Fall 2020

Two lanes of traffic maintained in each direction. Northbound traffic will be in contraflow pattern. Northbound traffic must stay in right lane to exit state Route 8. State Route 8 northbound exit and entrance ramps at Steels Corners Road, Seasons Road and state Route 303 will have 28 day closures.

Summer 2020

Graham Road to state Route 8 northbound will be closed for 120 days. The detour will be Graham Road to Hudson Drive to Steels Corners Road back to state Route 8 northbound.

Summer 2020

Chittenden Road will serve as an entrance ramp from state Route 303 to state Route 8 northbound while the ramp is reconstructed. There will be a seven day closure while the temporary tie-in is made.

Winter 2020/2021

Three lanes of traffic maintained in each direction. State Route 8 southbound will utilize median contraflow lane. Southbound contraflow lanes subject to closure during inclement weather. Traffic must stay to the right to exit state Route 8 southbound.

Spring/Summer/Fall 2021

Two lanes of traffic maintained in each direction. Southbound traffic will be in contraflow pattern Southbound traffic must stay in right lane to exit state Route 8. State Route 8 southbound exit and entrance ramps at Steels Corners Road, Seasons Road, Graham Road and state Route 303 will have 28 day closures.

Summer 2021

Hudson Drive under state Route 8 will be closed for 45 days for the lowering of the pavement underneath the state Route 8 bridge. The detour will be Graham Road to Wyoga Lake Road to Steels Corners Road back to Hudson Drive.

Winter 2021/2022

Three lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on new pavement.
