Testing Policy
The Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT’s) Consultant training program requires all class attendees to pass a post-course test in order to receive a certificate of completion. The ultimate goal of instituting testing is to enable ODOT to hire experienced, qualified consultants to perform work on transportation projects.
Testing requirements:
- At the end of all Traffic Academy class sessions, a test will be available electronically to participants on the course material covered.
- Participants are required to complete the test online within four weeks of attending the course session.
- Participants must register for a “MyODOT” account with sufficient time for the account approval prior to the testing deadline. Instructions on registering for a “MyODOT” account and how to access the online test will be provided at the end of the training course session.
- All tests will be comprised of multiple choice and true/false questions.
- Students should have a calculator available for use during the tests.
- Participants must achieve an 80% or higher to pass any Traffic Academy test.
- The Signing and Markings test contains two parts. 80% is required on both portions individually to pass the entire test.
- Attendance during the entire course session and successfully passing the course test are BOTH mandatory requirements to receive a course completion certificate and to be prequalified to perform ODOT work.
- Participants have available one retest if achieving less than an 80% on a test.
- Participants failing to obtain at least an 80% on the retest will be required to reenroll in the subject Traffic Academy course in order to qualify to test again.
NOTICE: Any student requiring a reasonable accommodation during training (i.e. – audio, visual, etc.) should contact the Ohio LTAP Center prior to the course session date to facilitate appropriate arrangements. Contact the Ohio LTAP Center at 614-387-7359, 1-877-800-0031 or via email at ltap@dot.ohio.gov.
Lodging Options
Downtown is 3.5 miles/approximately 10 minutes away from our Central Office location. Hilliard-Rome Road & I-70 is 6.5 miles/approximately 10-15 minutes away. The downtown hotels are very nice, but they can be slightly pricier than other areas. Most of them offer government rates, however. Both areas offer plenty of restaurants but there is more shopping in the Hilliard-Rome Road & I-70 area. The downtown area hotels that are highlighted are near the Convention Center and Arena District. This area is recommended as there are more restaurant options than in other parts of downtown.

DIRECTIONS: Click here for directions to our Central Office complex.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE: When you arrive at our complex you will most likely turn right into our drive. There is one small building on your right as you first enter and then there are two tall buildings that look just alike. You will drive past the first building (Ohio Department of Public Safety) and park in front of the second (Ohio Department of Transportation). Parking is free. All visitors must enter at the South end of the building. The receptionist will point you in the right direction.
